The Gift of Slowing Down

The Gift of Slowing Down.jpg

Bali is slowing me way down.

I am reminded of the slowness of healing, of tending to ourselves - of being in our bodies, feeling our feelings, dropping out of the mind and into the lusciousness of these beautiful bodies we are given.

Healing happens - patterns do release on their own over time. And, I would say that what truly shifts and heals us is not having a destination, but learning how to be with what we feel - our pains, our traumas, our challenges - with courage, unconditional love and compassion. Like a mother with a child.

More than anything, the healing I’ve done and the healing I’ve supported in my clients has helped us to relate to our feelings, struggles and patterns differently.

Healing through slowing down and feeling helps shift and regulate the nervous system when it is in distress and relate to this human experience with it’s inevitable ups and downs more kindly and effectively.

Inherent in trauma and early attachment wounds is speeding up due to the high activation state of the sympathetic nervous system that still feels like it is under attack.

Slowing down is what transforms and helps rewire the nervous system.

It helps us to feel at home in our bodies and minds in order to be able to feel more at peace and at choice, to use our wills and all the beautiful tools that are available to support ourselves in the moment.

When we can do this, everything gets easier in life. We are more in alignment with our truth and how we want to live. We trust ourselves more and make more loving and skillful decisions. As a natural by-product, we experience more positive results.

And, slowing down and learning to feel in a gentle, loving way is the first step.

For genuine healing and transformation to happen, the more we slow down, learn to be with and accept what we are experiencing, the faster the results.

Thank you, Bali, for reminding me of the beautiful potency and magic of slowing down.
